Women's wing of TDP threatens agitation
NIZAMABAD: Telugu Mahila, the women wing of the Telugu Desam Party, has asked the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre to enact the much awaited Women Reservation Bill providing 33 per cent reservation in the winter session of Parliament.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Telugu Mahila president Vanga Geeta, MP, said that the Bill should not be linked with the constituencies delimitation exercise. The Congress was trying to defer the enactment under the pretext of delimitation process, she added. If it were so, the Telugu Mahila would not tolerate it and launch an agitation, said Ms. Vanga Geeta.
All for reservation
Attacking the Congress saying that it had no sincerity on political reservations for women, she said her party was not against the introduction of a provision for OBC reservations in the Bill.
"In fact, we are supporting reservations for all socially disadvantaged sections", she said.
