Requests for additions, deletions and changes being accepted
VISAKHAPATNAM: Electoral rolls of the 72 wards in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) are published on Saturday according to the notification of the State Election Commission.
The lists are available in the RDO office, the mandal revenue offices concerned, the GVMC office, the corporation's zonal offices and the ward offices, according to a press release.
Requests for additions, deletions and changes are accepted from Saturday itself and will be taken up to the issue of the election notification.
Those in the purview of Visakhapatnam One and Two Assembly constituencies should make the requisition in the prescribed form at the Suryabag, TSR Complex and Gnanapuram zonal offices, those in Pendurthy and Parawada constituency limit to the Revenue Divisional Officer, Visakhapatnam or the offices designated by him.
Special Correspondent writes: The voters list for the north coastal Andhra graduates constituency of Legislative Council, released by the officials was complicated and it was very difficult for a voter to verify if his or her name was included, according to a complaint submitted to the Electoral Registration Officer of the constituency.
M.V.S. Sarma, who is in the fray for the seat, his coordinator K. Mohana Rao and others on Saturday submitted a complaint to the District Revenue Officer cum ERO listing various discrepancies in the voters list.
The voters were not listed according to the door numbers, area, alphabetical order of the names or any other method that would make it easy for a voter to search and find his or her name in the list, Mr. Sarma said.
Eligible voters were deleted from the list and ineligible diploma holders had been included.
There were instances of repeating the names of registered voters, the complaint said.
Mr. Sarma and Mr. Mohana Rao wanted the officials to prepare fresh list of voters by following a method that would enable the voters to find their names in an easy way and deleted the names of voters, which were entered more than once.
