HYDERABAD: Sameena Begum and Nazia, the two Hyerabadi women, who were allegedly being tortured by their Oman national husbands rang up their families here on Saturday.
Speaking to her father Syed Mustafa, Begum said she and Nazia came out of their in-law's house and were living in the Indian embassy office for the past 12 days.
"I am dying to see our family members. Please do something and get us back there," Mustafa quoted his daughter as saying. Begum explained to her father that there were many other Indian women who got married to locals and were being physically and mentally tortured. .
Nazia and Begum, both from Bhavaninagar area in old city, were married to twins Mohammed and Yousuf of Oman on July 16 last. Another Oman national Al Hosni, who flew to Hyderabad took the new brides to Oman on September 26. The next day, the two women rang up here saying both their husbands were epileptic and were subjecting them to cruelty.
The Chandanagar police are investigating into the allegation of a woman Kavita that a couple kidnapped her baby boy from Serilingampally primary health centre (PHC) premises two days ago. "She claims that a couple befriended her at the railway station while she was asking for money for train fare to go back to her native place. But the couple brought her back to the city promising her a job," Chandanagar police said.
They took her to the PHC for performing family planning surgery, where they disappeared with her son. Police sent a team to the PHC for ascertaining facts.
