Safety training programme

A training programme on safety during construction and erection was inaugurated at Visakha Refinery by Satyanarayana Raju, joint chief inspector of Factories on Tuesday.

`Shankaravam' on AIDS from Nov. 18

The city-based Bhadram Foundation Welfare Society is organising Shankaravam, a programme to create awareness on AIDS and HIV, from November 18 to December 1, according to its secretary S. David Raju.

The programme includes a roadshow, competitions for the city college and school students in singing, spot painting and essay writing on HIV and AIDS, and a north coastal Andhra level street-play competition.

In the road-show , 40 street plays would be staged at 10 important centres of the city.

Killed in accident

An occupant was killed and the driver of an autorickshaw was injured in an accident at Yendada on Wednesday. M. Gopal, 34, a petty vendor, was coming in the autorickshaw from Anandapuram to the city around 7 a.m.

At Yendada junction, a lorry took a sudden turn from the right to the left and hit the auto resulting in the accident.
