HYDERABAD: In the wake of reports about outbreak of viral fever and diarrhoea in the flood-hit areas, Health Minister K. Rosaiah announced a contingency plan to tackle health-related problems.

As part of it, drinking water would be supplied by tankers to the villages. An amount of Rs. 30 lakhs and 20 vehicles each have been placed at disposal of the District Medical and Health Officers of Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and East and West Godavari districts to tackle communicable diseases, Mr. Rosaiah told reporters.

The Minister said doctors and paramedics from Hyderabad, Khammam, Nalgonda and Kadapa districts had been rushed to Krishna district. Besides, medical colleges were asked to help .

Red Cross Society had offered staff and drugs. Large quantities of chlorine tablets were also being distributed.
