HYDERABAD: After a high level meeting on transfer of the 29 subjects to Panchayat Raj bodies here on Friday, Panchayat Raj Minister J. C. Diwakar Reddy said nine out of those 29 had been identified for immediate transfer.

He told reporters that orders would be issued shortly for this.

The decision to transfer these nine subjects was taken since full-scale discussions "cleared" all of them. These subjects were animal husbandry, weaker sections welfare, agriculture extension, education (primary, secondary, adult), drinking water, poverty alleviation, health, welfare of physically challenged, and women and child welfare.

Zilla Parishads' powers

The Minister said Zilla Parishads would have power to recommend transfer of a teacher and inspect schools. There were also plans to bring NGOs engaged in rural development under ZP purview.
