VISAKHAPATNAM: A function was organised by Sri Gayatri Welfare and Cultural Youth Academy at the Bala Vikasa Kendram at Omkar Nagar slum, Railway New Colony, on the occasion of Andhra Pradesh Formation Day.
BSNL Deputy General Manager (planning) G.V. Ramakrishna Rao, who participated as chief guest, unfurled the National Flag.
He garlanded the portrait of `Bharat mata' and lit a lamp.
He paid rich tributes to Potti Sriramulu who had sacrificed his life for the formation of the State.
BSNL Sub-Divisional Engineer B. Ravindra Kumar, who participated as guest of honour, called upon students to live up to the aspirations of their parents and teachers by studying hard in spite of their financial problems.
Academy president R. Ravi Kumar also spoke.
The chief guest distributed glasses and plates to students.
