Power Minister coming today

KADAPA: Information and Power Minister Md. Ali Shabbir will take part in Andhra Pradesh Formation Day celebrations at the Police Parade Grounds here on November 1. The Minister would later inspect a BC welfare boys' hostel building at Chintakommadinne and inaugurate a social welfare boys hostel building at Chennur. Mr. Shabbir would review seasonal conditions in the district at the ZP meeting hall in the evening. He would later inaugurate a `shadikhana' at Nandalur and leave for Hyderabad by Venkatadri Express. Malnourishment among girls observed

KURNOOL: Fifty-three NCC cadets, including 15 girl cadets, donated blood here on Tuesday.

Students of Government Degree College, Silver Jubilee College, STBC College, KVR College and Cole's Memorial College took part in the blood donation programme.

The event also brought to light the acute malnourishment among girls.

Out of 150 girls who came forward to donate blood, only 15 had the required haemoglobin level to donate blood.

Youth ends life

ANANTAPUR: One Hanumanthu, 28, of P.Yellampalli in Nallacheruvu mandal allegedly committed suicide at his house on Tuesday by hanging himself to the ceiling. He was eking out a living by running a jeep for hire. But, one of his acquaintances allegedly forged his jeep documents and had taken loan from a private finance company. When the finance company agents came, he was shocked to learn that he owed Rs. 1.35 lakhs. Unable to bear the shock he committed suicide. Staff Reporter

Naxal found dead

WARANGAL: A naxal was found dead on Tuesday at the spot of the exchange of fire between naxals and the police near Narlapur village in Tadvai forest area on Monday.
