HYDERABAD: Chief Electoral Officer I. V. Subba Rao appeared to have committed a faux pas on Thursday when he released a Telugu booklet of free verses titled ‘Ennikalalo’ in which the author named some parties while criticising the present political system.
Lakkaraju Nirmala, the author, a familiar name in social service circles in Hyderabad, who was present during the release.
The title conveys double meaning -- In elections ! and how many dreams !
For example, some verses referred to ‘Rajyam’ and ‘Kutami’ in an oblique reference to Praja Rajyam and Mahakutami. By and large, the book creates awareness among citizens about the other aspects of politicians and parties and appeals to them to use the vote meaningfully and by all means to save democracy.
The CEO came to know about the contents of the booklet after he released it.
