The World Agriculture Forum sent a congratulatory letter to Dr. Reddy, complimenting him for the victory in recent elections. “Return of Dr. Reddy, who is known to champion farmers cause is really welcome decision. We hope that he would continue his untiring efforts to improve the lot of the farming community in Andhra Pradesh,” the forum in its letter said.

Responding to the compliment, the Chief Minister in a statement issued here on Sunday reiterated his Government’s commitment to continue the pro-farmer programme. “We will continue the same programmes that had endeared the Congress Government with the farmers in the last five years,” he said and added that loan wavier scheme announced by the Centre had benefited 65 lakh farmers in the State, whose loans to the tune of Rs. 12,000 were written off.

He said in the next four years, the government would keep its promise of completing the pending irrigation projects that were already grounded. The government is committed to make all the three regions prosperous through irrigation and agriculture, he said and sought the cooperation of all.
