HYDERABAD: The AP Ryotu Sangham on Wednesday demanded setting up of driers in every market yard across the State for reducing excess moistures in food grains and maize which suffered severe damage following recent heavy unseasonal rains in several districts. At a press conference here on Wednesday, K. Nageswara Rao, vice-president, All-India Kisan Sabha, and R. Venkaiah, general secretary of the sangham, said the organisations had submitted a representation on the demand to Chief Secretary P. Ramakanth Reddy on Tuesday.

When he said it was not possible to set up driers in view of the model code of conduct being in force till May 28 and non-availability of time for calling tenders, they suggested at least immediate provision of tarpaulin covers. Mr. Reddy agreed to this suggestion.
