Capacity crowd at queue complexes, many pilgrims return without darshan
TIRUMALA: The heavy rush at the sacred Lord Venkateswara temple is so much for the past two days that several thousands of devotees were forced to return without the darshan of the Lord in spite of the fact that TTD management has geared itself to meet the summer crowd all its efforts proved futile.
Both the queue complexes remained full to the capacity during the last two days and darshan lines stretched out to several kilometres outside the two massive complexes, which have over sixty compartments.
Devotees were forced to spend endless hours in getting accommodation. Things were no different at the massive Annadanam complex where the visiting devotees were fed free of cost and at the ‘Kalyanakatta’ where devotees tonsure their heads.
. Heated arguments between devotees and TTD staff have become an order of the day at all the cottage allotment counters.
To bring the situation under control, the temple management on its part cancelled the ‘VIP break darshan’ and issuance of the cellar darshan tickets on recommendation letters. Besides, the management ordered for the multi-fold increase in the issuance of ‘Archana Ananthara darshan’ tickets across the bank counters. Free food packets and drinking water sachets were distributed to all the devotees standing in the darshan queue apart from providing milk to the infants.
The temple authorities attributed the increase in the crowd to the summer holidays and to the conclusion of the general elections within the State besides Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
