KURNOOL: Representatives of four high-level agencies reviewed the situation in the aftermath of the collapse of the bridge across the KC Canal on NH-7 on Friday.
The Independent Quality Control Consultancy firm gave its preliminary investigation report to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) attributing the accident to the failure of the jack.
The construction agency decided to clear debris in five days from now.
The representatives planned to meet once again on Saturday to decide the future course of action. According to sources, it would take at least two months to reconstruct the bridge.
Meanwhile, the body of the site engineer, Satish, who died in the accident, was shifted to General Hospital for post mortem. The process was delayed due to the absence of kin of the deceased. Colleagues of the engineer were shocked over the pathetic condition of the engineer’s body as there was no one near it, which was lying in the mortuary.
The information of the tragedy was passed on to the family of the engineer by the representatives of KMC Constructions which employed him.
According to reports, Satish frantically tried to contact his colleagues on mobile soon after the incident but lost contact.
