Good news awaits the users of BSNL Broadband connections in the city, especially those in the popular Home Combo plans of 625 and 750. To address the net decrease in the number of Broadband connections in the city over the past nine months, the telecom giant is proposing to enhance the speed of its broadband, while retaining the same tariffs.
Sharing this and other plans for the city, the Principal General Manager of BSNL Hyderabad Telecom District V. Srinivasan said proposals to double the existing speeds have already been sent, and the customers can expect the results soon. Samadhaan scheme for settlement of disputes in respect of Broadband usage has been extended up to March 31 next year, to retain customers planning to migrate to other connections.
Other schemes
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday organised on the occasion of BSNL Week from October 1 to 7, Mr. Srinivasan sought to inform the public about other schemes of landline and mobile connections too. Not many people are aware that STD calls from BSNL landlines are being offered at local call rates, to any landline of any operator in the country, he said. The information will be printed on the next month's bills.
Through the Universal ITC cards with facilities of pinless dialling and registration of up to five BSNL numbers for dialling, ISD calls to US, UK and Canada can be made at six paise per second, he informed.
BSNL has installed its exchanges within customers' premises at a few locations such as Hillridge, Masjidbanda and Nallagandla in the city to improve landline telephone services. Also being offered is Fibre-To-The-Home (FTTH) service for builders of gated communities or business projects, with a bandwidth of up to 100 Mbps for all the inmates. Bill payment options too have been diversified. BSNL customers in the city can now pay their landline bills through AP Online or avail one per cent discount in the bills by paying through the Electronic Clearance Services, or the BSNL portal.
Mr. Srinivasan also informed about various festival promotional offers from the company. Customers with their own modems can download 500MB data per month free of cost for four months, or avail 150 free calls for combo plans above Rs.500.
