Deloitte employees celebrate a ‘green’ Impact Day

Release 50,000 Cyprinus carpio fishlings into Durgam Cheruvu

Also plan to plant 125 saplings and building a fence around it

HYDERABAD: About 6,000 professionals of Deloitte Tax Services India celebrated the Impact Day, the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) day, here on Friday by organising different social service activities.

Commemorating the World Environment Day, which coincided with the Impact Day, a group of employees released 50,000 Cyprinus carpio fishlings into Durgam Cheruvu and pledged to protect the lake.

Measures

“The fishlings can clean polluted waters by eating dead fish, weed, algae and other wastes. In order to save the lake, we are also planting 125 saplings and building a fence around it. We hope these measures could help bring down the pollution levels of the lake waters,” said Viraj Malhan, Vice-President of the company’s Global Employer Services.

A committee will be set up with our professionals, NGOs and other CSR groups and will closely work with A.P. Tourism Development Corporation and Board and other government bodies to preserve Durgam Cheruvu, he informed. A painting competition with the theme ‘ecological conservation’ was organised for the school children on this occasion.

Besides this, Deloitte employees conducted various service activities across the city, which included medical camps, plantation of saplings and traffic monitoring at busy junctions.

The employees felt that Impact Day is not a symbolic day of events, but the celebration of their year-long commitment for different social causes.

“Most of us will continue to work on these problems through out the year,” said Vanapalli Janakesh, who works as a tax manager with the company.
