HYDERABAD: The government will set up seven more Backward Classes study circles to offer coaching for the Civil Service Examination this year.
Replying to a question in the Legislative Council on Monday, BC Welfare Minister Mukesh Goud said that in addition to the existing eight BC study circles, seven more would be set up in Kadapa, Tirupati, Vizianagaram, Nizamabad,Adilabad, Karimnagar and Khammam. The request for a study centre in Machilipatnam would be considered later. The objective was to provide one study circle in every district, he added.
Online study circle
The Minister, however, agreed to examine the suggestion made by a member, Nageswar (PDF), to use technology to start online study circle for wider access to BC students across the State. As online study centre would not entail heavy expenditure, it should be given priority before the proposed seven new study circles, Mr. Nageswhwar said.
When educationist Chukka Ramaiah (PDF) wanted to know if any assessment of performance of study circles was made in the last 10 years, the Minister said it would be taken up soon.
