Launches a trenchant attack on Congress for taking credit for projects of TDP regime

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party has accepted the Congress’ challenge for an open debate on the development of the twin cities, but wanted the government to first release white paper on the development works taken up between 1994-2004 and 2004-09.

The white paper should incorporate the details of the projects that were conceived and designed during the Telugu Desam regime as also those that were implemented after the Congress came to power in 2004. The ruling party could decide the date and time of the debate once the white paper was released and the debate should take place in the presence of experts who were non-partisan.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, TDP senior leader K. Yerran Naidu and others launched a trenchant attack on the Congress for taking credit for the projects launched by the TDP government. A majority of the projects including the ORR and metro rail were designed during the TDP regime.

The Congress government, which took over reins after its campaign that the TDP had focused on the development of the twin cities at the expense of rural areas, was now taking credit for the development with an eye on GHMC elections. “But, none of the projects are completed in time as corruption and nepotism are ruling the roost,” Mr. Naidu said.
