The entry is free for all. We are also planning a photo exhibition,” he said.
Sumadhura vice-president M.C. Das said that the committee had received a wide range of scripts, which were novel and different. “There are spoofs on television serials and sequences between wife and husband in a humours manner.”
Organising secretary P. Mohan Ram Prasad said that each playlet team would be paid a remuneration of Rs. 10,000, double the amount paid last year. “Performances by film comedians Kallu Chidambaram, Jayaprakash Reddy, AVS and Raavi Kondala Rao will be the highlights of this year’s event,” he said.
Explaining the welfare activities of the organisation, Mr. Subba Raju said that 30 students of economically backward artistes were paid scholarships and 20 poor senior artistes were being given old age pension every month.
The festival will unfold on Friday evening 6 p.m. with the performance of “Mandujana Sukinobhavanthu” by Bhimavaram-based Gurazada Kalaniketan. Mayor M.V. Ratna Bindu will be the guest of honour, while film comedian Sutti Velu and others will be present.
