HYDERABAD: The arguments in the writ petition challenging the action of the government in providing weightage to the marks obtained in intermediate examination for deciding the ranks in EAMCET will be finally heard on August 3 before the Division Bench of the A.P. High Court.
The counselling scheduled by the EAMCET convener was permitted by the Bench and it was made clear that all admissions will be subject to final orders in the writ petition.
The Bench comprising Justice Ghulam Mohammed and Justice Vilas Afzulpurkar was hearing the case filed by Kushal Prasad and others.
The petitioners filed the writ petition challenging the GO 165 issued in 2007 and GO 8 issued in 2009.
S. Ramachandra Rao, senior counsel appearing for the petitioners, said the government had brought in an ordinance amending the earlier Act for this purpose and placed the Act before the Bench.
He contended that this was against the scheme framed by the Central government. He contended that the State government had no power to bring in a change in the format. The Bench felt that the case needed to be heard fully and fixed the date as August 3.
