Vizianagaram district ranks first in promoting family planning
HYDERABAD: Vizianagaram district ranked first in all-round performance, excelling in promoting family planning, immunisation, institutional deliveries and other initiatives of the National Rural Health Mission, followed by Hyderabad.
The awards were given away at a function in Ravindra Bharati, attended by Ministers Danam Nagender (Health & Family Welfare) and P. Satyanarayana (Arogyasri).
Karimnagar and Hyderabad were adjudged first and second as best vasectomy districts.
Among those who received the awards were Hyderabad Collector Naveen Mittal and Srikakulam Joint Collector Sridhar. A cultural programme preceded the awards function.
Earlier in the morning, the Family Welfare Department organised an impressive rally from the Nizam College circle, flagged off by Anil C. Punetha, Commissioner, Family Welfare to mark World Population Day. A large number of students from different nursing schools around the city, other institutions and associations of doctors participated in the rally.
