Tollywood actor Akkineni Nagarjuna will formally inaugurate the Kerala-based Kalyan Jewellers showroom, the largest in the city, on Sunday.

At a press conference here on Saturday, Kalyan Jewellers chairman T.S. Kalyanaraman said it had 25 retail stores across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh and this will be the 26{+t}{+h}store.

“We propose to open stores at Rajahmundry, Kakinada, Guntur, Nellore and Visakhapatnam before March 31 next year, group vice-president marketing Vivek Ramadevan said.

The unique selling point of the company was faith, transparency and trust, he said pointing out at the price tag that came with each and every gold or diamond ornament in various collections on offer. The showroom on the Bandar Road opposite PWD Grounds has 15,000 square feet of space in two floors.

While the ground floor houses the gold jewellery section, the first floor has diamond and platinum ornaments on display.

“While we offer some standard designs done by eight permanent designers of the company at its two manufacturing facilities at Coimbatore and Thrissur, we also customise as per the buyer's requirement by outsourcing some of the ornaments as per local design tastes in each State,” Mr. Vivek said.

The retail chain did a total turnover of Rs.3,500 crore by March and proposes to almost double its turnover to Rs.6,000 crore by bringing in more number of customers at its existing stores and opening another 25 more branches in the country by March next, the company representatives said.

Speciality

Explaining the speciality of their showrooms and business practices, Mr. Ramesh and Rajesh Kalyanaraman, directors of the company said they had only BIS Hallmark jewellery in their stores and also give advice on gold/diamond purchase as part of its customer service nicknamed ‘My Kalyan'.

Originally from the textile mills business, the group launched its first store in Thrissur in 1993 and went on to add one after the other based on the trust they were able to create among the buyers in their services/quality of gold, said Mr. Kalyanaraman.
