HYDERABAD: Loans to Self Help Groups (SHGs) dominated the discussions at the Governing Body Meeting of District Rural Development Agency, Ranga Reddy district, here on Saturday. Members sought to question the laxity in disbursement of loans to SHGs while Collector M. Danakishore explained that about Rs.180 crore had been disbursed from the Rs.265 crore allocated for the current year.

Zillah Parishad Chairperson Sunitha Mahender Reddy informed about plans to train the children of SHG members and provide self-employment opportunities to them.

About 2,575 students will be trained in various courses in the current year, she said.

Of the Rs.350crore funding approved under the SGSY, Rs.175 crore will be delivered to the families of SHG members from SC, ST communities by way of Community Investment Fund. The annual plan for the year 2009-10 for DRDA and DWMA was approved at the meeting.
