NALGONDA: Three persons drowned and another washed away in Krishna river during Ganesh idol immersion at Chintriyala village in Mellacheruvu mandal on Saturday night.
According to information reaching here, workers of a cement factory took a Ganesh idol for immersion in Krishna river at Chintriyala from a village near Mellacheruvu in the night.
Four workers lost balance and got swept away in the gushing waters of the river while trying to immerse the idol in the darkness.
On receipt of news, the police rushed to the site and fished out the bodies of three workers from the river. The deceased were identified as Shankar Naik, Madhava Reddy and Saidi Reddy, according to police sources.
Vizianagaram Correspondent writes: Three youths -- K. Chandramouli (22), K. Sarat Kumar (16) and M. Sekhar (20) -- residents of Bobbili Veedhi and Y.K.M. Colony in Parvatipuram, drowned in Nagavali river at Saruguduguda near Cooneru in Komarada mandal.
The body of Sekhar alone could be fished out and search for the other two was on. According to Komarada police, the youth went to take bath in the river.
