It is aimed at enabling farmers to withstand vagaries of monsoon, says Minister
KHAMMAM: The government intends to introduce collective farming in at least two villages in every district, according to Minister for Cooperation R. Venkata Reddy. Talking to media persons, he said the concept of collective farming was aimed at enabling the farmers to withstand the vagaries of monsoon and reap a rich harvest every time.
The cooperative farming societies were proposed as part of a pilot project and there would not be any force on the farmers to join the societies.
There would not be any loss to farmers if they happened to join the organisation. “Even as a farmer, I am very much in favour of the concept and it should be a success,” he said
Khammam District Collector V. Usharani said farmers of Anjanapuram village in Konijerla mandal had come forward to form a farmers’ cooperative.
But the deeds were given to the farmers under the restoration of the forest rights initiative. Farmers were showing interest in the concept in different places.
