GUNTUR: Nannapaneni Manga Devi, co-founder of Sri Venkateswara Bala Kuteer and a recipient of a life achievement award from the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) was felicitated on Sunday at a colourful function held on the premises of Ventateswara Bala Kuteer in Brodipet.
Paladagu Lakshmana Rao, president of Brahmayya and Co and a renowned chartered accountant was the chief guest of the day, in which former president of Indian Medical Association, Krishnarjuna Rao, former registrar of Acharya Nagarjuna University, Ravella Sambasiva Rao, auditor Gopi Krishna and Vadlamanu Ravi were present.
They recollected the pioneering contribution of Manga Devi to the field of education and service. Manga Devi, along with G. Prabhavati took formal training in an international training institute run by Justen, representative of Mariya Montessori and kept themselves abreast with the Montessori methods of teaching. They started a school in the year 1965 in the name “Sri Venkateswara Bala Kuteer” with a single child on rolls.
