HYDERABAD: A day after making off with a suitcase containing Rs. 2 lakh from a car at S.R. Nagar, the gangs stealing money by distracting attention of people struck again on Tuesday at Rethibowli in Asifnagar. They took away Rs. 2.80 lakh in the fresh incident. Thirty-nine-year-old Shankar was coming from Langerhouz to Asifnagar to pick up his wife in his car around 11 a.m. when two bike-borne youths overtook them and told him that oil was leaking from the engine. Believing them Shankar stopped the car and stepped out. He saw some diesel stains on the dickey and was searching for a piece of cloth to wipe off some diesel marks found on car. By then, the duo sped away with the plastic bag containing money which was left on the front seat with the side windscreen rolled down.
In a similar incident on Monday, three persons took away a suitcase with Rs. 2 lakh from a car after forcing the driver to stop it stating that the car had a flat tyre at Balkampet in S.R. Nagar.
According to local police, a company managing director Nageswara Rao and accountant, Srinivas, started off for Fatehnagar in the car after withdrawing the money from a bank in Balanagar. In this case also, three persons came on a bike and informed the driver that the car had a flat tyre. The two employees stopped the car and got down to see what has happened when the trio lifted the suitcase and fled.
