VIJAYAWADA: Municipal Commissioner Natarajan Gulzar on Saturday inaugurated the discount sale at the APCO showroom near Hotel Raj Towers on Karl Marx Road. He said that employees working in State Government departments could avail themselves of a special festival advance to buy clothes from APCO showrooms. “The Government has issued orders to this effect,” he said.
The discount is available at 26 APCO showrooms in Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam district till January 15. Dazzling silk sarees and cozy cottons from Gadwal, Narayanapet, Pochampally, Puttapaka, Dharmavaram, Venkatagiri, Madhavaram, Bandar, Cheerala and Mangalagiri are on display in all the showrooms. Besides sarees, one can choose dress materials, dhotis, towels and bed sheets in striking designs and colour combinations from the lots.
At the special exhibition-cum-sale arranged at APCO Bhavan near Rehaman Park in Governorpet, up to 70 per cent discount is being offered on select handlooms. Sarees from Chirala cluster are the special attraction here.
Divisional marketing officer of the APCO M. Gandhi said that fresh stocks were arrived to all showrooms and the discount was to mark Christmas and Sankranthi festivals.
Recalling the Chief Minister’s call to employees to wear cottons at least once a week, he urged people to encourage handlooms. Director of the Andhra Pradesh State Handloom Weavers’ Cooperative Society Limited Divi Rambabu was also present.
