Three-day festivities are set to begin tomorrow

GUNTUR: The resplendent history of Palnadu is set to be captured by a series of literary events, socio-cultural festivities at the three-day Palnati Utsavamulu set to begin on Sunday. The three-day event is being organised at the Palnadu Open Air Theatre at Dachepalli mandal in the district under the aegis of Andhra Pradesh Cultural Department, Palnati Charitra Parirakshana Abhivrudhi Committee and Ramki Foundation in Hyderabad.

The inaugural event would be kick started with a seminar on ‘Literary Trends-A perspective’ which would feature, Central Sahiti Academy awardee K. Siva Reddy, critics Penugonda Lakshminarayana, Produturi Yella Reddy and Revenue Divisional Officer S. Venkata Subbiah.


A massive Palnadu Mahotsava Janapada Kalayatra would be taken out from the mandal office at Dachepalli in which hundreds of artistes displaying the various art and cultural forms unique to Palnadu would be present.

The inaugural function would be held in the afternoon which would have Information & Public Relations Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy as the chief guest. The seer of Palnati Veerachara Peetham, Pidugu Tarun Chennakesav would be one of the spiritual guests.

On the day two, a seminar on ‘Empowerment of Women’ would be held. Minister for Women and Child Welfare N. Rajya Lakshmi would be present. Speaker K. Suresh Reddy would be present on the concluding day of the festivities.

A Palnadu Mahotsava Committee with District Collector Mohammad Ali Rafath as the chairman would monitor the arrangements. Gurajala MLA Janga Krishna Murthy, Macherla MLA Pinneli Lakshma Reddy and MLC T.G.V. Krishna Reddy would be the conveners of the committee.

Project coordinator, Ramki Foundation P. Vinaya Kumar would be the member of central coordination committee.
