HYDERABAD: The Congress Legislature Party has faulted Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu for justifying higher consultation fee to BHC Agro (India) Private Limited for the Kuppam irrigation project.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Government Chief Whip N. Kiran Kumar Reddy ridiculed Mr. Naidu’s claim that the amount was not very high. He said the farmers, who adopted the drip and sprinkler irrigation systems, bemoaned that not much benefit had accrued to them.

He said going by the exorbitant consultation fee, it meant that a sum of Rs. 2-lakh was paid for every acre that was developed. The farmers lamented that they had spent close to Rs. 20,000 per acre but the returns were meagre and some of them submitted a petition to the Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy during his visit to Kuppam recently, he said.
