‘BSNL transformation phenomenal’
HYDERABAD: As a ‘Navaratna’, the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has shown ‘tremendous transformation’ and has come up No. 1 despite fierce competition from multinationals, said R. Srihari Rao, Director, Defence Electronics Research Laboratories.
He was addressing an impressive gathering after giving away the Bharat Sanchar Awards 2007 here on Tuesday, in the presence of S. Ramalingam, BSNL’s Chief General Manager, AP Circle.
Dr. Srihari Rao recalled that in the past, public sector undertakings were held in low esteem.
“However, it did not take them too long to prove their mettle,” he said with appreciation.
The way to remain No. 1, he said, is to harp on technology and continuous upgrade systems.
“Please continue the good work,” he told the gathering.
0Mr. Ramalingam said the BSNL is definitely a model for other organisations to follow, being one of the largest of PSUs with a workforce of a whopping 3.5 lakh across the country.
The only woman in the list of 20 employees who received the Vishisht Sanchar Seva Padak awards was T. Chaitanya Sudha, working in Penugonda of West Godavari district. Others include Y.
