Constable accuses maid of disappearing with his daughter

HYDERABAD: A police constable’s seven-year-old daughter, who was allegedly kidnapped two days ago by a maid from Sikh Chawni in Rajendranagar, was set free on Wednesday.

The Rajendranagar police said the maid, Geeta alias Venkatalaxmi, 18, was still absconding. The constable, Satyanarayana Singh, works with the Central Armed Reserve wing of the city police. His wife Sujatha fell sick a few weeks ago and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Geeta, hailing from Mahabubnagar district, joined the constable’s service a year ago. According to the constable, Geeta disappeared with his daughter Pinky alias Lallu on Monday.

He said that he was away in his office and his wife was in hospital when the child was kidnapped.

The constable maintained that the maid and his daughter were not found at home when he returned from duty. He claimed that he went to the maid’s village in Mahabubnagar district to trace her. But her family members told him that she did not come there.

“Singh says after searching at all places and inquiring with the maid’s family members he preferred to lodge a complaint with us. But there are several loose ends in his version,” the Rajendranagar ACP M. Mahipal Reddy said. On Wednesday evening, Geeta reportedly rang up the constable and said that she was leaving his child at Attapur ring road. When the police parties rushed there, Pinky was found standing by the roadside. A hunt is on for Geeta.
