Chittoor: The district administration is taking several measures to safeguard irrigation tanks and Government lands in the district from being encroached, said district Collector S.S. Rawat.

Talking to reporters here on Thursday, he said boundaries of the irrigation tanks are marked. In this connection, he sited certain instances which the district administration has taken.

In the first instance, a case was filed against a person who encroached Kattamanchi tank near Chittoor by creating false documents, which showed that he purchased it for Rs. 100 in the year 1881

In the second instance, a person tried to grab seven acres at Mangalam near Tirupati with forged records, which were sent to the forensic laboratory in Hyderabad.

In the third incident, a person tried to register lands belonging to Oticheruvu, Vadamalapet with pattadhar pass books issued by the MRO. The official was placed under suspension.
