VIJAYAWADA: Teenage Day, celebrated on August 1 every year in line with a call given by the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP), was observed in a novel way on the campus of KCP Siddhartha Adarsh Residential Public School at Kanuru here on Saturday.
The students got the opportunity to listen to informative lectures by some eminent physicians, including Y. Sandhya on “Growth & Development”, C. Madhu on “Nutrition” and “Life Skills” by V.V.R. Bhoopathi.
Paediatrician doctor Sandhya said that teenagers were undergoing lot of stress and taking to the extreme step of ending their lives only because of lack of sex education. Activities like yoga, physical exercises and sports would be of help in controlling one’s emotions, she suggested.
Nutritionist doctor Madhu advised the students to keep themselves away from junk food. IAP Krishna district president V. Sandesh and secretary P. Durga Prasad spoke, while school principal S. Chandra Sekaran proposed vote of thanks.
