MAHABUBNAGAR: Telugu Desam legislature party deputy leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy said that Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Government was hoodwinking the farmers.
He told mediapersons on Sunday that Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy on February 5, 2005 at a meeting promised the people that KLI fourth phase would be under taken by lifting water from Gudipally Gattu reservoir to provide irrigation water to over 2.6 lakhs acres lands that fall in Jedcharla, Kalwakurthy and Wanaparthy assembly constituencies.
Mr. Reddy said on the contrary to the promise of the Chief Minister, the proposal of lifting water from Gudipally gattu reservoir as been winded up and a separate scheme was being contemplated by spending huge sum of over Rs. 3,000 crore. He alleged that the new proposal in place of fourth phase was nothing but putting the fourth phase of KLI in cold storage.
He said that taking up another lift irrigation from Srisailam back waters or Jurala foreshores was not possible as it would face many hurdles from CWC and other agencies.
