TIRUPATI: It was a memorable day for a band of 16 retired teachers of the TTD-run, Sri Venkateswara High School which is more than a century old now. Nearly a decade or two after they had retired, to their pleasant surprise the teachers received an invitation on Thursday for a felicitation programme in the premises of the same school where they served for decades. The TTD Trust Board Chairman, B. Karunakara Reddy who happened to be their old student in the school in the early sixties arranged the felicitation ceremony.

As a mark of reverence to the ’gurus’, Karunakar Reddy honoured the veteran teachers with shawls and presented them with a purse of Rs.1116. Clearly overtaken by emotion at the unexpected felicitation at this late age, the band of teachers most of whom were eighty plus years, in turn honoured Reddy with garlands and shawls as a nice gesture.
