HYDERABAD: The Action Committee of Farmers’ Organisations of Andhra Pradesh has urged Governor N. D. Tiwari to use his good offices with the Centre in having the minimum support price (MSP) for paddy fixed at Rs. 1,000 per quintal.

In a memorandum, the Action Committee lauded the Government for making a proposal to the Centre for fixing the MSP of 13 different crops grown in the State in accordance with the recommendations of M.S. Swaminathan, chairman of National Farmers Commission. The Committee felt that the calculation of MSP for paddy was unscientific. The right calculation would peg the price anywhere between Rs.1,350 and Rs. 1,550.
