VIJAYAWADA: The Suryaraopet police on Thursday registered cases against Kodali Satyanarayana, managing director of Sri Pujitha Chit Funds Private Limited, following complaints from a few customers that the cheques issued by the company were dishonoured.
A few customers, who had their chits and fixed deposits with the company, visited its office at Suryaraopet and found that the office was locked.
After having an informal meeting, they came to a conclusion that the company duped them. K. Satyanarayana of One-Town and some others lodged complaints with the police stating that the company was not paying the interest amount on their fixed deposits for the last six months.
The police registered cases under Section 420 (cheating) of the IPC and under the provisions of A.P. Protection of Depositors of Financial Establishments Act.

MACHILIPATNAM: The Bandar Taluq police on Thursday arrested deputy director of Animal Husbandry department B. Venkateswara Rao on the charge of negligent driving. He was produced in the special mobile court and was granted bail.
The official was charged with causing injuries to a woman at Manginapudi beach on October 28, where he was practicing jeep driving by using Government vehicle.
The woman escaped with injuries and was admitting to a hospital. Later, she was shifted to Government General Hospital, where the doctors diagnosed that she suffered fracture on her leg. Based on a complaint from the victim the police registered a case under Section 338 of the IPC .
