KADAPA: District Intellectuals Forum president M. Vivekananda Reddy expressed concern on Thursday that people were neglecting their mother tongue in their urge to learn English.
Speaking at the A.P. Formation Day celebrations at Pushpagiri school here, he said though learning English became imperative for professional education and business purposes, students and youth should be fluent in Telugu too. He urged the Government to ensure that Telugu has a place of pride in the society. He wanted tourism-related programmes taken up to propagate the glorious history of the State.
Students attired as Vedic pandits recited slokas and poems. Principal Sivakumar and large number of students participated. Pushpagiri school students performed two dances on the occasion.
