HYDERABAD: Rashtra Grameena Abhivridhi Samacharam (RAGAS), the software developed by the Department of Rural Development for implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, has been selected as one of the nine finalists for the prestigious Stockholm Challenge Global Knowledge Partnership Awards 2007.

As a finalist, selected from out 119 entries from across the world, the Department would be represented at the 3rd Global Knowledge Conference – An Event On The Future, at Kuala Lumpur from December 10 to 13, according to K. Raju, Principal Secretary of the Department.

Besides NREGS, the software was used for implementing watershed and community livelihood development programmes.

It is web-based Information and Communication Technology tool that assists in managing and monitoring all the key transactions of the three programmes.

The software has been loaded in 964 mandals of the 19 Employment Guarantee Scheme districts and it was capable of delivering services like generation of job cards, preparation of estimates for works, issue pay orders and pay slips.
