TIRUMALA: ‘Ankurarpanam’ - the prelude festival was on Thursday traditionally performed at the famous hill temple of Lord Venkateswara, in connection with the nine-day annual Navaratri Brahmotsavams scheduled to take off on Friday.

In connection with the festival, Ekantha Thirumanjanam was conducted to Lord Viswaksena - the commander-in-chief of the army of the Lord’s domain and other parivara deities including Lord Anantha and Garuda in the wee hours of Thursday inside the main temple complex followed by panchanga sravanam and koluvu.

Later in the evening the Senadhipati Lord Viswaksena was taken out in a grand procession along the mada streets of the temple town. The grand procession was preceded by over a half a dozen caparisoned temple elephants, horses and bulls.
