TIRUPATI: After bettering its own track record by registering a zero-accident rate service during the recently concluded Salakatla Brahmotsavams at Tirumala, the APSRTC is introducing 75 additional buses in the route for the ensuing Navaratri Brahmotsavams, starting October 12.

The management is pressing 425 buses and drivers specially trained in ghat operations to run 1,800 trips a day, at a mind-boggling rate of a bus per 30 seconds.

Four cranes and ‘automobile clinics’ with sufficient number of mechanical staff are also sought to be pressed into service at vantage points on both the ghat roads to clear traffic in case of a mishap.

Review meeting

At a meeting convened with supervisors, union leaders and workers to review the arrangements made ahead of the Brahmotsavams, APSRTC Regional Manager M.S. Prakasa Rao asked them to put all arrangements in place to ensure a hassle-free travel and also minimise inconvenience to the visiting devotees.
