Rajahmundry: The ONGC group General Manager Y.V. Jayarama has called on budding engineers to develop new and robust designs that will withstand international competition in the present era of competitiveness with quality. He also said it is the responsibility of the future engineers to transform the country from developing nation to developed nation.

After inaugurating two-day technical symposium Medha 2K ’07 here in GIET campus on Friday, he said that the post Independent era has seen products with longevity and now it is the era of use and throw.

He said that manufacturing and designing efficiencies should be shown by the engineers to develop products at competitive prices in which China is ahead. He said that India should sustain the present growth rate of around 10 per cent and industry should take more responsibility in future growth.

S.J. Chopra, Chancellor of University of Petroleum, Energy Studies, who presided over the function, said that Medha 2K 07 will give an opportunity to develop communication skills and shape themselves as good professionals.

Principal of the GIET L.S. Gupta in his address has asked the students from different colleges to take active part in all the events and said that the situation in the present competitive world has changed and every one has to sell themselves in the market with their managerial skill apart from technical skills.
