Sangareddy: The Communist Party of India (CPI) is launching Bhoo Poratam in the salt making fields of Krishna and Prakasam districts on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on Tuesday, extending the Bhoo Poratam to the coastal waste lands. Member of Legislative Council and CPI state secretariat member Jelli Wilson who was here to participate in Bhoo Poratam near Sadasivapet told reporters that the party has decided to protest handing over of hundreds of acres of lands in Chinganjam and Palletummala Palem to Salt making firms. Mr. Wilson said that the land belongs to the traditional salt makers of the coastal belt.

Mr. Wilson claimed that the party through its survey has found that over one crore acres of land could be gathered for distribution among the poor and landless. However the Government has been unable to identify sufficient land for distribution under phase four slated to begin from November.

He alleged that the Government through its mindless policies auctioned land irrationally in many places and left nothing for distribution. He suggested a thorough survey by the Government to identify land available under different heads.
