Hyderabad: The Hyderabad chapter of Deaf Way Foundation is celebrating the International Day of the Deaf at People’s Plaza on Sunday.
As part of the celebrations, over 1,500 hearing impaired persons from different parts of the State would exhibit their talent in arts, including painting, dance, music, solo stage shows etc. In connection with the celebrations, the organisers would conduct a “Deaf Awareness March” from Necklace Road to Lumbini Park.
The objective behind organising the march was to promote use of sign language at public places like hospitals, rail and bus stations for the convenience of hearing impaired, said Deaf Way Foundation Hyderabad State co-ordinator T.K.M Sandeep while addressing a press conference here on Friday.
The celebrations will culminate with awards presentation to the participants. The event would provide a platform for the hearing impaired to exhibit their paintings and other skills. Organisers would also provide information booklets, compact discs and other materials on different vocational training and education courses. The event begins at 12 noon and is open to all. Entry is free.
