Union Minister inaugurates bamboo hut at Palair lake resort

PALAIR (Khammam): Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Renuka Chowdary on Friday wanted the district officials to facilitate free entry to the recreational resort at Palair lake for children studying in schools for orphans.

Inaugurating a bamboo hut built at a cost of Rs. 2 lakh at the resort, Ms. Chowdary said she would be happy if such children were provided free transport to the place and refreshments.

She said that the park and recreational facilities including the boat ride developed at Palair had become a major attraction in the district.

The bamboo hut was built as part of the National Mission on Bamboo Technology programme to make people familiar with the use of bamboo for building houses. The Minister inaugurated a similar structure built of processed bamboo for use as a community hall at Tallampadu village.Accompanied by Collector Sashibhusan Kumar and other senior officials , she visited the Bayyaram tank, a medium irrigation project and took stock of the conditions under its canal system.

The tank developed a breach two years ago. Though funds were made available, the breach could not plugged properly.

The farmers complained that the kharif transplantation was also delayed and it would affect the yield as well.

The Minister asked the water users associations (WUAs) under the project to take up the works on their own with the support of the administration.
