Programme launched to expose misdeeds, misrule of the Congress ‘Party could not complete even two lakh houses’

BADSI (NIZAMABAD): The Telugu Desam Party has said the Congress Government led by Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy has lost the public confidence and will not survive for long, alleged former Minister Mandava Venkateswar Rao.

“The Government failed to keep its promises made to people during the run up to the 2004 elections and people are waiting to give a fitting lesson to it. The Congress will be rooted out in the next elections,” Mr. Rao said.

Addressing a public meeting after launching the Palle Palleku Telugu Desam Party here on Thursday, the former Minister said the Congress leaders are bogged down in corruption. They are “gulping down” public lands and plundering mines and mineral wealth, he alleged.

During the last three-and-a-half years of the party rule it could not complete even two lakh houses as against one crore houses it promised to construct for the poor and shelterless in five years, he alleged. Party district chief and former Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy sad it is the responsibility of Congress leaders to fulfil their election promises.

The poor are starving and farmers are committing suicides due to lack of remunerative prices to their produce, he said.
