This is with reference to the news item, ‘World faces high B.P. threat’, The Hindu, dated August 17. It is alarming to note that 1.56 billion people would be suffering from B.P by 2025. It is said that health is wealth but of late wealth has brought inactive life style and rich fatty foods. Hope the youth wake up before it is too late.

Drop move to shift State archives

This is with reference to a report about the future of AP State Archives and Research Institute and the plans of the Ministry of Railways (The Hindu, August 23). The Archives, situated near Tarnaka, is to be taken over by the Ministry of Railways for its plan to lay the Metro rail line around the city. The building of the Archives is of historical importance as it was constructed about forty years ago and was inaugurated by late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. Historic records are not like books to be shifted here and there. Its shifting from place to place would cause great harm to the already fragile and old records. The site for this office was selected keeping in mind the proximity of O.U. for historical research purposes. If it is shifted to a location away from the university campus, it would also loose its status as a historical research institute. Meanwhile, an alternate site for Railway plans should be found.
