NELLORE: Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Prakash Karat will visit Nellore district on September 4 as part of his six-day jatha (procession) along the East coast to protest against India hosting a multi-nation naval exercise featuring the US.
“The major procession led by Mr. Karat, which will be set off from Chennai on September 4, will enter into the district on the same day,” senior CPI (M) leader T. P. Bhanu Raju told The Hindu on Thursday.
He will visit Ongole and other towns and cities in Krishna, West and East Godavari districts as part of the procession.
Meanwhile, another ‘jatha’ led by CPI general secretary A. B. Bardhan, which will set off from Kolkata on September 4, reach the port city on September 8.
Both Mr. Bardhan and Mr. Karat, along with other Left leaders, will address a public meeting at Visakhapatnam on September 8.
