HYDERABAD: Several members of the cast and crew of ‘Mahatma’, a Telugu film under production, accompanied by Tushar Gandhi, great grandson of the Father of the Nation, visited Bapu Ghat here on Monday afternoon.

Tushar Gandhi (48) is the grandson of Manilal, the Mahatma’s second son. Director of the film Krishna Vamsi and hero Srikanth were among those present. Incidentally, ‘Mahatma’ is the hero’s 100th and the director’s 16th film.

Mr. Krishna Vamsi and Mr. Srikanth earlier worked together only once, for ‘Khadgam’. Mr. Gandhi is known for his crusade against the auctioning of the Mahatma’s memorabilia and runs the Mahatma Gandhi Trust as its chairman.

In the evening, he launched the audio of the film at a glittering function here. Mr. Krishna Vamsi said the film was about how ‘India is treating Gandhiji and his principles today’ and how it bonds with the common man. It was only in the fitness of things that the Mahatma’s great grandson was here to release the film’s audio, he said.
