The children’s carnival has everything they could have asked for

VIJAYAWADA: The Grand Ball Room of Hotel Fortune Murali Park rocked and boomed with high energy on Sunday. The venue became the destination for the 800-odd children who came from every nook and cranny of the city to jive, de-stress and rejuvenate themselves.

The children’s carnival hosted by the hotel had everything that a child could have asked for a chill-out zone. The pulsating music created a mood of warmth and exhilaration and the event had the perfect amount of emotion to transform the young participants to a world of fantasy. To help them switch gears and get into the right mode, the organisers played peppy numbers from Hindi and Telugu films, like ‘dhoom macha le…’ ‘jhalak dikhla jaa…’, ‘das bahaane karke le gaya dil…’ and ‘o chilukaa naa raa chiluka…’.

Hundreds of balloons and kites adorned the main entrance that welcomed the young ones into an enchanting world of entertainment. Clad in funky T-shirts and stylish jeans, denims, capris, kurtis and stoles, boys and girls vied with one another to grab the attention of the event organisers.

Packed with exciting events like solo and group dance, singing competition, magic show and handwriting competition, the carnival was also an occasion to feast on yummy savouries like chat, noodles, Manchurian, pakoda, cool ice creams and delicious desserts, besides juices and biscuits.

They laughed heartily at the weird and wonderful feats of Udaya Bhaskar, the anchor-cum-magician of the show. For some, the experience was refreshingly new, and so their parents, who came to pick them up, had to wait for longer as their wards were in no mood to let go of a single fun-filled moment. In the dining space, the serving dishes virtually turned into the mythical ‘Akshaya Paatra’. The serving of food became almost a continuous activity.

Winners of the events were given away 50 prizes. There were 25 lucky dips and all participants carried home a bagful of goodies. District Collector Navin Mittal, coming along with wife Rigu Mittal, inaugurated the event in the presence of hotel general manager Md. Shoeb.
